Musical conversations between Paul Kodish(drums), Selwyn Charles (double bass), Claude Deppa (trumpet and flugelhorn) and myself.
Howard Gray, a Lester Bowie/Art Ensemble fan who was the engineer at the @440 Caledonian Road Studio, said he'd record us. In the end he did more than engineer as you can hear. These recordings were done over two evening sessions.
As soon as I played the antique Fender Rhodes I was blown away. I had never had such a pure sound from a Rhodes.
Claude Deppa, on trumpet and flugel, always ready to jump into the unknown. This high energy situation was perfect for him.
Always in demand on the pop and drum & bass scenes, drummer Paul Kodish is one of my oldest partners in crime. We first played together $%£ years ago.
The most swinging of jazz bassists, Selwyn Charles had the opportunity here to show other sides of his great talent, creating some awesome vibes with his double bass and MXR Flanger.
